World Glaucoma Week 2022

World Glaucoma Week runs from 6th to 12th March 2022 and aims to highlight the impact of Glaucoma across the world.

Glaucoma is the world’s leading preventable cause of irreversible blindness, affecting around 78 million people around the world.

Do you have a family history of Glaucoma?

A family history of Glaucoma increases your risk of developing the condition which is often completely asymptomatic until it becomes more advanced. While there’s no cure, regular check-ups will help identify the earliest signs. The best advice we can give is never skip your eye health check up.

Check ups are increasingly important as you age. Under the age of 40 you should be checked every 2-4 years, between the age of 40 and 60 you should be checked every 2-3 years and over 60 you should be checked every 1-2 years.

At Optomeyes Eyecare, glaucoma checks are part of our routine eye health checks.
